Our mission is to alleviate additional stress and suffering of widows by providing materials and labor to restore homes in need of safety and critical home repairs as they grieve the loss of their spouse.
Our vision is to see hope restored and disparity lifted by bringing widows' homes to a comfortable and safe state, free of repairs and deterioration. We want God's love and compassion to show through our service.
Offering free home repairs to widows in need.
Welcome to The Widow’s Helper, a non-profit ministry in east Texas providing free home repairs to widows in need according to the Bible’s call in James 1:27: “…Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God means caring for orphans and widows in their distress…”
Ellen Thompson, Founder of The Widow’s Helper knows firsthand the struggles of being a widow after her husband passed away in 2021 after 17 years of marriage. In early 2022, during her own grief recovery, God inspired her to start The Widow's Helper to help other widows by providing free home repairs to those in need in local communities.
Our mission is to alleviate additional stress and suffering of widows by providing materials and manpower to restore homes in need of critical repair as they grieve the loss of their spouse. Our desire is to spread God’s love, hope and restoration. We want to provide comfort and peace of mind and increase the standard of living and independence for widows who are unable to maintain their home during difficult times.
We offer free critical home repair services to qualified widows, regardless of age, race, or religion. We prayerfully consider all applications to determine if the widow qualifies for financial assistance and if our resources match their needs.
The Widow's Helper has already successfully raised an initial $10,000 to begin helping widows! We are beginning our fundraising pre-launch March 1, 2023. During our pre-launch phase, our goal is to raise another $10,000 to continue our efforts for the next three months.
